SMS filtering guidelines

My company uses Twilio to send text messages to our users when they request a password reset and other similar situations.  We have noticed that some, but not all, of our messages to AT&T devices are not delivered, and Twilio shows the following error: "Carrier violation. Your message content was flagged as going against carrier guidelines."

We are just wondering if there are any published guidelines from AT&T that we can use to update our messages so they no longer get flagged.

Hi @chuckinsuburbia

Currently, we do not whitelist messages from longcode numbers.

If you are sending many messages with identical content to a large number of users, you are at high risk of having your messages filtered and should consider a shortcode.

Thanks,

Michelle

Just came across the same issue on our end.  What if we ask you to mark the numbers where the txts messages are coming from?  it is only a few... would your system be able to lift the restrictions just for those specific numbers??  Because this is  a huge issue for us.

We also have this same issue. We only do opt in SMS to our provider network and the clients trying to contact them.

Is the only way to send message is via a short code. This is very expensive. If we could give you our numbers to white list that would work out much better.
