Pointless features can't be individually turned off

I'm sure that there are some people somewhere on this planet who ABSOLUTELY must know when someone is typing a response to their text messages. I'm also certain that somehow knowing the exact moment another person opens the message that was sent is beneficial to SOMEONE SOMEWHERE. But for those of us who could care less; why aren't there separate toggles to turn those features off in Advanced Messaging? It's either send larger files and accept the other crap, or not deal with the other crap at the expense of having to send smaller files. Why aren't the juvenile 2005 Yahoo messenger era options individually controllable?

Not exactly sure what you're getting at here but read receipts can be turned off in the Advanced Messaging settings. To imply this is a "2005 era option" of some juvenile type variety is quite a narrow view because read receipts are actually important to many users. Of the adult variety too.

Regardless, Advanced Messaging is essentially only 2 things. Larger MMS file sizes and read receipts. You can turn off read receipts and only take advantage of the larger filesize for MMS. Inside the settings there are two options.  Inside the messages app just go to Settings -> Advanced Messaging and turn off read receipts if you don't want them on.
