Mom sent a message, I received a different one

My mom sent me a message that said one thing. But I received something totally different. We both have iPhones, are on the same plans, and were in the same house. We sent each other screen shots and are completely baffled. Pleas explain

Hello @ashleythiel,

Thanks for joining the Community Forums and bringing this question to us. I certainly understand the need for clear communication. I definitely wouldn’t want this to lead to a misunderstanding. So let’s dive right in!

You stated both of you are using iPhones. Which models are you using and are they up to date? Also, are these both SMS messages or iMessages?

In my research, I found this issue may be related to the network. The first step I would recommend is to reset your Network Settings. You can do this by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will allow for a fresh connection to the towers.

Secondly, I would have you remove each other as contacts, delete the conversation thread, and then re-add each other. This will clear up any residual message data.

Hope this resolves your concern. If not, feel free to reach back out. Have a wonderful New Year!
