Hi everyone, Chris here. I have some super great news. AT&T is increasing the number of people you can group text and it is slowly being rolled out and tested on specific devices. My buddy David T wrote an Advance Messing article that goes over group messaging and the new features to come. It has been a long thing coming!
Why Are There Limits? AT&T has implemented a limit to the number of group message participants as a way to protect our customers from spam and/or malicious software. AT&T is vigilant about protecting you, our customers, from unsolicited text message spam. We are evaluating options for supporting larger group limits in the future.
Is AT&T Going To Update The Limit? I can tell you that we are evaluating options for supporting larger group limits in the future. As this time, I do not have any information if or when a change will take place. Last checked 11/20/2018.

This limit of 10 has to change. Contemplating changing providers too based on how inconvenient this is considering the cost we pay each month. Not getting the value expected considering the cost. This limit of 10 is a significant limitation.

As good as those other apps are, it's not reasonable to request 15 unrelated families on a baseball team to all get another app just so we can text. Now we would all have another texting application to manage. From what I can tell, the options out there require everyone to use the same app.

Not really. Unless all 15 of you are att subscribers. If your other members of the family dont have limit on their text messaging they dont have to use google messages. They will still be able to receive and reply to more than ten people.

If it's a matter of spamming then why does att let me receive them? At least give me an option to reply to half at a time. I feel left out

Most messaging apps allow you to mute conversations. I'm on groups with my family and church. I want to see the messages later but not have them constantly interrupting me so I mute them.

I agree with you.. I'm the volleyball coach for mout school and it's ridiculous that I have to send out 2 separate text to each my team or the teachers I need to reach.
I also have a large family and can not join in on many conversations because of the limit. It's very frustrating in both area especially when I need everyone to be in on the same chat.
AT&T this is antiquated.

It is 2019 and I am so tired of having to chose who is going to be in my response message or sending 2 separate messages so that my family can see my response to group messages . If I chose remove recipients it chooses for me. At&t should take the limit off. If I'm sending the message it is not spam. As far as I know no one has actually prevented spam from coming through. Frustrated customer.

The reasoning provided makes no sense. I can receive a text that was sent to hundreds of other people. Spam is not being limited in any way by this limitation. But a group sends out text messages every week to 12 recipients and includes me. I cannot respond. I cannot even modify the recipient list to remove 2 people to get me to the 10 limit. I have to start a new message string and leave people out or break it into two groups. This limitation is frustrating and purposeless.

Really really annoying. Might just switch to a different carrier for this alone. This is obviously not in your customers best interest

This is ridiculous! Its 2019 already - Increase the limit to something useable... this is incredibly frustrating that I cannot respond to 13 people on a team thread... I agree with a lot of others here ...its time to see what other options are out there... Everyone in the league who has Verizon doesn't have this problem.....
