How to group text more than 10 on AT&T

Learn what devices support Advance Messaging

_GroupMessageLimit_.png

The Wait is over! Through 2021, AT&T is continuing to increasing the number of people you can group text. It is slowly being rolled out and tested on many devices. Check out David T's  Advance Messaging page for more information regarding group messaging and the new features to come.

***********Information below is still valid for some devices until the update is pushed to it.***********

***********We do not know when your device will support group messaging but it is coming.***********

 Why Are There Limits?

AT&T has implemented a limit to the number of group message participants as a way to protect our customers from spam and/or malicious software. AT&T is vigilant about protecting you, our customers, from unsolicited text message spam.

Is AT&T Going To Update The Limit?

Some devices have the ability to send group messages with up to 30 contacts. More updates are coming to increase that number but I do not have any information when a change will take place. Last updated 2/23/2021.

If spam messages have affected you, you can report them by:

  • Forwarding a copy of the SMS and MMS spam to short code 7726 (SPAM).
  • You are not charged for forwarding the spam message to 7726.

That’s what I read too. It only removes the limit for AT&T users. I have many family and friends on Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. It seems I need to be with one of those companies too.

The limit of only 10 people on a group text is a joke. Wake up AT&T and stop selling us a “solution” of “Advanced Messaging” that is really just marketing mumbo-jumbo and doesn’t solve the problem.

At&t please catch up with almost every other provider.  The most important people in my life are on a different carrier. Stop setting limits on your customers.

Big Corporate  Exec(s) do not listen until the bottom line is affected. I plan to leave as well. Are there any suggestions?

I left 1 month ago. I am now with T-mobile. All seems OK and i actually save 20.00 per month on top of everything. I now get 4 lines with 50G of high speed data for 138.00 ... They include tax in the price so you get a nice even number

The BONUS is when you call Tmo help desk a real person pickup the phone right away, not a complicated menu. ATT is out of touch and dont care about the customer until they start losing subscriber.

This is really embarrassing. As a mom, I have to explain to 16 other mom's why I can't respond or participate in group texts regarding a girl scout troop. As an employee, I cannot respond to a group text regarding scheduling needs. As a friend, I cannot respond to a group text regarding a group get together. Why again am I paying for a service that I have to make excuses and apologize for? I might as well tell everyone my phone is shut off because I didn't play the bill!

The best thing to do for all is to drop AT&T and go to another carrier.  There are much better options.  AT&T has a minimal platform and is milking it for profit as long as they can.  The basic consumer is not their bread and butter. Large corporate accounts are where they make their large dollars and the corporations are glad to pay extra for what other carriers provide as part of their basic plan.  Dropping AT&T may not hurt them, but you will feel better AND have better service form a company in business for the basic consumer.

I am an android user and I am not allowed to reply to a group of 10+.  However, my wife is an iPhone user and IS allowed to reply in the same group. How can I fix this?

@sorcann ....it is NOT a phone issue...it is a "provider" issue. AT&T limits to a group of 10 for the lame, idiotic reason stated above,

Hi, thanks for your reply. If that is true, how does my wife have the
ability to reply to the same group text of 16 people with her iPhone on the
same plan as me?
