How to group text more than 10 on AT&T

Learn what devices support Advance Messaging

_GroupMessageLimit_.png

The Wait is over! Through 2021, AT&T is continuing to increasing the number of people you can group text. It is slowly being rolled out and tested on many devices. Check out David T's  Advance Messaging page for more information regarding group messaging and the new features to come.

***********Information below is still valid for some devices until the update is pushed to it.***********

***********We do not know when your device will support group messaging but it is coming.***********

 Why Are There Limits?

AT&T has implemented a limit to the number of group message participants as a way to protect our customers from spam and/or malicious software. AT&T is vigilant about protecting you, our customers, from unsolicited text message spam.

Is AT&T Going To Update The Limit?

Some devices have the ability to send group messages with up to 30 contacts. More updates are coming to increase that number but I do not have any information when a change will take place. Last updated 2/23/2021.

If spam messages have affected you, you can report them by:

  • Forwarding a copy of the SMS and MMS spam to short code 7726 (SPAM).
  • You are not charged for forwarding the spam message to 7726.

The solution is to switch to another carrier. I did. I switched to TMo. Price is lower by about 20.00 a month ... no limit at all. I text to 30 people at a time. Why do we even need to put up with this. ATT don't even care what  you think

Hi

See my login ? it is "iamleaving" ...and i did 3 weeks ago. Went to tmo. No problem with text. Unlimited data while ATT limit me to 10G for the plan. AND i save 20.00 a month. How about that ... why put up with this

This is absolutely reason to switch servers. My inability to send texts to our group of 12 complicates communications for the entire group, including those who use other carriers and have no problems with group up texting. When my contract is up I will switch to Verizon.

It would be great if the "Disband" the limit.  I would love to have a text conversation with all my family members without any of them feeling left out.  I find it odd that At&t has this limit when they text you subscrition renewal notices every month with a new text number.  That is more anoying!

This weekend my family celebrated my grandmother's 100th birthday. Someone sent a group text with 16 people included. I want to respond but cannot; this is very frustrating since I am the only member with AT&T. There should not be a limit on the number of people I can text.

It still requires both sender and receiver to be with AT&T. This is a
little better but not a great solution.

I am the leader of a Bible study group of 12 women. They communicate family concerns and prayer requests throughout the week by text. I am the only member of the group who cannot offer my words of support because I use ATT.

Chris,

Am I reading this correctly? The 10+ limit is lifted, only when everyone is ATT? Where I live, Verizon rules, this is not a solution by any stretch of the imagination. Would love to know the real reason this multi-billion dollar corporation won't do a "real" fix?
