How to group text more than 10 on AT&T

Learn what devices support Advance Messaging

_GroupMessageLimit_.png

The Wait is over! Through 2021, AT&T is continuing to increasing the number of people you can group text. It is slowly being rolled out and tested on many devices. Check out David T's  Advance Messaging page for more information regarding group messaging and the new features to come.

***********Information below is still valid for some devices until the update is pushed to it.***********

***********We do not know when your device will support group messaging but it is coming.***********

 Why Are There Limits?

AT&T has implemented a limit to the number of group message participants as a way to protect our customers from spam and/or malicious software. AT&T is vigilant about protecting you, our customers, from unsolicited text message spam.

Is AT&T Going To Update The Limit?

Some devices have the ability to send group messages with up to 30 contacts. More updates are coming to increase that number but I do not have any information when a change will take place. Last updated 2/23/2021.

If spam messages have affected you, you can report them by:

  • Forwarding a copy of the SMS and MMS spam to short code 7726 (SPAM).
  • You are not charged for forwarding the spam message to 7726.

I'm beginning to think that AT&T doesn't even read these threads of
messages, or they would have already done something about the 10 person
limit on group texting.
Prove me wrong AT&T. PROVE ME WRONG.
Just saying

Their response is "Use another service". So they want you to require all of the different people in your group to download some other third party app and use that, instead of using the service that is built all of their phones. It's completely bananas.

They will not ... this is a forever problem, not a new problem. It is not
even a problem, just stupid policy. I have put up with this for 6 years
now, No more. T-mobile has no limit and cheaper

For whatever it's worth and this has probably been addressed....I spoke with AT&T  a few days ago and they have no immediate plans to allow for texting to more than 10 people at a time.  Even if you are sent a text with more that 10 people in the group, you are not able to reply to the group.  Very inconvenient.  You can receive from another carrier but cannot send.  As you know, they are doing this to avoid being spammed.  I can appreciate that, but maybe the should at least increase the limit to 20 or so.

This is ridiculous, you have all these people complaining. I never had a problem with my business until i switched to ATT. When we're sending out a mass text many employees and managers cannot communicate. This just gives more of a reason to switch back to a competitor. This needs to be pushed higher up and fixed immediately.

i think they know ... they just don't care ...because not enough people
leave because of this ... Once we all leave and abandon this group,, stock
goes down ... then they will know. Why dont someone shoot corporate an
email and tell them to check out this group

It seems like AT&T only reads and reply (plural, since they only reply once in a thread) to these threads soon after they are posted. Then AT&T just ignores anything that gets posted after their reply. Maybe what we should do instead of replying to older post is to keep opening new posts every time we want to remind them that this is a problem. Maybe if we make enough "NEW" issues, AT&T will punish us by lifting the policy to save us from all spam text going around and allow us to get "SPAMMED"  by 20!!!

I wish they were as diligent in protecting us from SPAM CALLS as they are about restricting group texting to only 10. I get way more then 10 calls a day that I have to waste my time answering then blocking.

REMEMBER: Don't reply to old threads. Post new ones about this group texting issue.

Or we can just leave ... I finally left for tmobile yesterday. They sent one of their truck to my company during lunch time and they signed me up on the spot. Very convenient. No more problem. I am tired of working with ATT
