Getting off a family plan onto my own plan but keeping unlimited data?

So, I finally decided it's probably time to get off my parents phone plan and get my own but I have the grandfathered unlimited data plan and I am wondering if it is possible to keep that unlimited data but start my own plan.

Not if you go off the current plan. If you go off the current plan, you must choose from a currently offered plan.

Sorry to say but you won't be able to keep unlimited data if you move to your own plan. As a new account and new plan, you can only pick from currently offered plans, you can not keep a grandfathered plan.

Do your parents have and use unlimited data?
If not, moving them off to a current plan would keep your grandfathered plan intact. Just a thought.
