Cruise
I will be on a cruise this coming week. Wondering if I will have coverage or be charged fees. I paid to get WiFi on the cruise ship. Is there a way to turn off charges outside of WiFi on an iPhone without putting it in airplane mode? That way I can use my wifi that I paid for? Also I will be traveling to st kitts, st Thomas, st Lucia, Antigua, and Barbados. Is there service there without fees? Thank you,

Cellular service on cruise ships is provided by the cruise ship. It is called Cellular at Sea and can be very expensive, especially data. Any usage is billed through ATT and shows up on your bill as roaming charges. ATT does have cruise ship packages but they are fairly expensive. I cruise often and have an iPhone. I find leaving data roaming off is all I need to do but the best way to avoid roaming charges altogether is to put the phone in airplane mode. You can still turn WiFi on and use the ship’s WiFi. If your iphone has WiFi calling, you can call and text over the ship’s WiFi without any roaming charges. There is also service at all your stops but only the US Virgin Islands won’t have roaming charges because ATT provides coverage there. Bottom line, anytime you are not on ATT’s network (in other words when you don’t see AT&T on your phone display), you are roaming and subject to roaming charges. You might want to consider getting an international plan for your port stops. International plans are here: https://www.att.com/offers/international-plans.html

@Jkennim It does not matter. Your plan is for use when on ATT’s network and depending on which unlimited plan, when roaming in Canada and Mexico, not when on a cruise ship or any other country. Any usage (calls, texts or data) when not connected to ATT’s network is subject to international roaming rates.

But what if you have an unlimited talk and data plan already?
