Cannot receive text messages from Verizon and some businesses

Ever since I ported my number to ATT (It was on Google voice for a while and other carriers before that) I have been unable to receive texts from Verizon and some businesses such as Valve's Steam service or Frontier airlines. I am able to SEND to Verizon customers as well as call or receive calls from them, but whenever a Verizon user send me a text I never receive it. I can send and receive texts from other ATT users, T-Mobile users, Sprint users. I opened a support chat that I was on for hours before the kicked it over to engineering who emailed me a couple days later and said that the issue was a weak signal..... really......I really need this resolved.

That is device support.... Which is not relevant. Please read the post, but
I will reiterate I can receive texts from Sprint, TMobile, ATT and some
services such as Okta Verify. I cannot RECEIVE from Verizon and SOME
services such as Uber.

Hello, @itguy2003,

 

As you're only unable to receive texts from one carrier, you may want to have one of your friends who use them to contact that carrier to see why their texts aren't coming through.

Soo..... Shoukd I also call Uber and valve and ask them how come their
texts don't come through and just hope that I got everyone or would it be
possible that someone with AT&t could instead of just putting me off
actually double check that the port went through entirely correctly?

Thanks for posting back.

What type of device are you using? Are the messages from the businesses short codes? Are the numbers stored contacts? How about the other messages are they SMS, MMS, iMessage, or a app like Hangouts?

We can absolutely double check by running tests when you sign in to the AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve (TS&R) tool. Before you begin TS&R please ensure your device software is up to date, and power cycle your device.

Please check for updates, power cycle your device, and run through TS&R, then if the problem persists, reply back so we can take a closer look.

I went in to an AT&T store, showed them that I cannot receive texts from Verizon, but others are fine. Then I swapped my sim card with another ATT phone number. With the other persons SIM I am then able to receive texts from Verizon to their number on my phone, with my SIM in their phone they COULD NOT receive texts to my number on their phone... so the person at the AT&T store had someone reset my network connection again..... It is not a device issue.... With my sim card with my number back in my phone the AT&T rep spoofed the Verizon number and sent it and viola that came through

 

To answer your questions:

 

SMS messages FROM Verizon. Everything else works fine email, Skype, whatever. I was able to receive a group message from the Verizon user...

I ported TO AT&T and obviously the aggregators for SMS did not get updated properly. Please have YOUR porting department resubmit it as the receiving carrier it is YOUR responsibility. 

 

I will say it one more time IT HAS BEEN VERIFIED NOT TO BE A DEVICE ISSUE. by your over the phone tech support (who sent it to some other support who emailed me later blowing it off as a signal issue.....) and by the ATT rep in store.

I am actually having the exact same issue with a new AT&T phone on an old Google voice phone number...was this ever resolved?

April 2019 and I'm having the same issue... I've been trying to resolve for 2 1/2 months and cannot get anyone to help get to the bottom of this.

I have the same problem since April 2019 when I ported my number from Page Plus.  NO ONE has been able to resolve the issue.  I called Verizon and AT & T.  Verizon guy said it was because I have "split service" and then I never heard from them again.  Called AT&T did all the trouble shooting and then the girl cut me off (probably by mistake but still frustrating).  Still my issue goes unresolved.  Would appreciate and help from one of the super genious people out there!
