Can't text pictures after update

I just had an update pushed to my phone tonight 8/1 and now I can't text pictures anymore. The update said there were texting enhancements, but that doesn't seem accurate. Anyone else have issues?

Hey there @Nikehutch!

We understand how important staying connected is, and know that for the past couple of years text messages have played an important part in that. We can resolve your issue and have you typing away and sending emojis in no time!

I see here you recently completed a software update. Did you notice the problem starting after the software update? While we do test our software updates extensively to make sure you experience as few issues as possible, there is a chance that some unforeseen “bugs” can show up.

We recommend after each software update, clearing the cache. This resolves most issues that arise after software updates. To clear the cache please perform these steps:

  • Turn the device off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Up, Power and Home buttons at the same time until the Android logo appears, and the phone vibrates.
  • Release the Power button but continue to hold the other buttons.
  • Use the volume buttons to scroll down to highlight Wipe Cache Partition.
  • Press the Power button to confirm
  • Scroll down to Yes and press the Power button
  • Scroll to Reboot System Now and press Power

Your device will reboot with a cleared system cache. Verify if the issue persists.

Another troubleshooting step you can complete is clearing the cache and data from your text messaging app. This will not delete any of the current text messages on the device but you may have to set up any custom notification tones that you had previously configured.

You can perform troubleshooting on the app by completing these steps:

  • From your device screen, select Settings.
  • Select Apps or Application manager (may vary by device type).
  • Scroll to the right till you find the list that says “All”
  • Depending on your software version you may not see the all list, but will have to select more in the upper right corner then select “Show system apps”
  • Select the Text messaging app you use from the list, then select “Clear cache”.
  • Then select “Clear data”, followed by “Force stop”
  • Select “ok” on the window that opens up
  • Verify if the issue persists

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
