At&t iPhone 4s, upgraded to ios8, issues with service

I have had my iPhone 4s for about 2 years now. I was on the phone talking with someone for about an hour, and then suddenly the phone call was dropped. I thought I had just lost service or was in a bad spot for a second, but each time I tried to redial, I got no dial tone. When the person I was on the phone with tried to call me back, it said my number was out of service or that my phone does not have a working number. I get wifi on the phone so I can send and recieve iMessages, but text messages and calls fail. If I turn the wifi off I do not get 4G, but it still says I have 4 or 5 bars. Does anyone know what is going on or how I can fix it? My dad contacted AT&T and they said everything should be working, so I don't know what to do.

It sounds like your SIM card may be corrupt. Try getting a new SIM card.

Either that or your account somehow got suspended.
