AT&T VoLTE(HD Voice) phone calls to count against your data plan?
AT&T is rolling out VOLTE on May 23rd 2014 in selected markets/area. Question is do VoLTE phone calls to count against your data plan? OR Will AT&T figure out VoLTE calls like texting(free on most plans) which is also kind of uses data but not counted against your monthly Data usage ? Voice calls on LTE may not use much data but if nomrla voice calls are free than why VoLTE calls get charged against Data usage ?

Good news - AT&T HD Voice calls will be billed as "normal" voice calls and will not be drawn from your data plan. No additional cost for Crystal Clear Conversations(SM)!

maybe, but the only device it will work on is the Galaxy S4 Mini and only in in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin

It definately good news if AT&T would not charge VoLTE calls as data usage but normal voice call. Second, rollout for VoLTE will continue this years and may pick up pace soon as issues, kinks are fixed with the initial market rollout. By the end of year more area will see AT&T VoLTE service.
My questions are
1. Would any current iphones like iphone 5 and 5s will work with voLTE since they have LTE bands with say firmware update or will only be supported on iphone 6 ?
2. On android phones, will it extend to current LTE enabled phones from samsung,Sony,LG, etc or people will have to upgrade to next generation phones ?
3. How AT&T VoLTE works with t-mobile/sprint HD voice and upcoming Verizon's VoLTE service ?
I like to see article on AT&T site explaining customers aware of VoLTE service and probable timeline of roll out in more ares in 2014-2015 ?
Comments are welcome on this important subject that will effects millions of cell cutomers in USA.

Since the pilot roll out is only targeting the Samsung S4 mini it appears that current devices so not have the required cellular radio or possible frequency requirements

Well, may not be true because Galaxy S4 Mini is year old(May 2013) and many high end phones(iphone 5s, Galaxy S5, LG G2, Sony Xperia Z, etc) came out after Galaxy S4 Mini with better or similar 2G/3G/HSPA+/LTE bands so the argument for newer phones not supporting right frequency/bands not right..
Galaxy S4 Mini :
2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE : (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz)
3G HSPA+ : (850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100MHz)
4GLTE : Cat 3 (800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600MHz)
AT&T should post devices and timetable roll out of VoLTE, so every AT&T cusotmers have some idea.
There is news/annoucement today that T-mobile will push all their voice calls on LTE(VoLTE), And Verizon will do VoLTE on their LTE / XLTE network by the end of year.

Basicly the larger markets will get it first and trickle down to the smaller market on the build out. Besides something mucht be unique in the s4 mini for it to be the only one that will be enabled to start out with

I have read the press release from AT&T about VoLTE but it does not have much details. From AT&T, I like to know three things. A list of current devices(other than Galaxy S4 Mini); that can/will support VoLTE; the 2014 timetable for rolling out support in various parts of country; how will it impact to the current cell plan customer if any.

As far as i seen, I dont think this will be fully adopted years after or a decade after. It will be deployed, but only a small number of customers would be actually using this feature.
