HR24-200: Split files + black screen

I have two HR24-200 receivers and have two sporadic (albeit recurring) problems:

First, sometimes my DVR recordings are split. This tends to happen with Fox Soccer Plus and happened this week with Fox Sports 2. Basically my recording goes for an hour+ then ends and then starts again. There is always a few seconds missing. These recordings tend to happen during the middle of the afternoon, although the FS2 recording was around 7:00ish.

Second, when I am watching live sometimes the black and blue banner at the top of the screen appears as if the channel is changing, the screen goes black for about 2 seconds and then the show continues. This usually happens in the evening or at night. I have not seen this problem happen when f I am working at home during the day with a sporting event on in the background or watching on the weekend during the day.

I have had both receivers for a few years and have re-set via the red button both at various points. Again, these problems don't happen all the time but both occur frequently enough that the problems are not one-offs.

Can anyone share some information about why this is happening and/or advice about fixing the problems. The more pressing for me is the split files, since I am losing time on the recordings when this happens.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I'll call tech support and ask them to send someone out to check it out. I'll finally feel like my protection plan is being used. :-)

This is sometimes a signal problem or a tuner is going bad, please post your signal readings

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner on the new post you create, using the example below as a guide. (The example below is only an example and not a form that will appear in your post unless you "cut" and "paste" it.) A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):

Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º)

[Most of your standard definition channels are beamed from 101ºW]

9-16 X X X X X X X X

17-24 X X X X X X X X

I have tried to post a reply in the forum multiple times but continue to receive a system error and a note that I should contact my system admin (of course, there aren't any admin links listed to ask for help. Hopefully this email response will post:

Thanks for the response. I should add up front that the channel that has been a steady problem for me with split files is 621-1 (Fox Soccer Plus), which is especially frustrating because this is a $15 per month a la cart channel, but my problem with split files on Tuesday night was channel 618 (Fox Sports 2). The channel going black the other night as if the channel is changing and then starting again was 247 (TBSHD).

Also, in case this helps, I do have the En Espanol package as an add-on and have an oval dish, which was probably installed 6 years ago. Nothing on my roof has been changed for 4 or 5 years and those changes were done by a DTV tech after there was a problem with the dish moving. I'm in an apartment building.

Finally, I have 2 of the same receivers in my living room. I could only test one right now because the other one is recording and if I remember correctly, testing will stop the recording. The split files have occurred on both receivers.

Here are my readings:

You need to click on your username then edit then add the info into the required fields no one but you will see it.

Those reading are good but could be higher, since it is happening on 2 different receivers there maybe corrosion in one or all the connectors from the dish or in the coax itself or the LNB maybe going bad.

The LNB and corrosion of the connectors was the problem, so thanks for that tip. When I called to schedule an appt the phone tech person didn't have a clue and kept talking to me about pixilated images, which was not my problem. The service tech said the LNB was in bad shape and since I live in a crappy weather environment, water had found its way into the connectors. I'm all set now, so thanks for that tip.
