HR 44-500 makes noise when changing channels

whenever changing channels the HR 44-500 makes a double bong sound or a double thump sound.

does anyone know what this is?

First thing to try is resetting your DVR/Receiver using the red button behind the front panel access card door. See if that helps. ( on side panel on H25 receivers).

how is the C41 connected to your TV?

Make sure that DD is disabled in the audio menu

A couple of months ago I received a replacement (used) HR24-500 DVR after the wiring inside my original model started smoking :{. It is a 7 year old "replacement" and has been working fine, running 6+ hours a day.  Two days ago a loud thumping noise started when changing channels and described in other posts. Now, it thumps 2x each time we change channels.  Annoying to say the least! To me, changing to PCM is not a fix as it eliminates the opportunity to listen in Dolby 5.1.  Unacceptable.  Does anyone have something else I can try? Hate that I do not have Dolby any more. Doubly disappointing when I see people with Genies are having the same problem.

Thanks.

OOPS -- my dolby digital setting was already off!  Also did a reset, no change.

Now what? Anyone -- thoughts?
