Sony Soundbar - Optical Connection - Programming Remote

Sony Soundbar - Optical Connection - Programming Remote

I got a new Sony Soundbar Model: HTCT260

DTV Remote is RC65X

I connected the soundbar through the Optical Port on the back of the TV

The DTV Remote only offers AV1 and AV2

How do I program the remote to control the soundbar - volume and power?

I have looked at the other threads and it's mostly about AV1 or 2 programming. Nothing about an Optical option.

Thanks in advance for your help.

What model DirecTV Receiver/DVR do you have?

Re: Sony Soundbar - Optical Connection - Programming Remote

Av1 and av2 are just aux settings on the Remote has

Nothing to do with optical

Or any other connection

As for remote programming slide

The slider on the directv remote

To av1 press and hold mute and select wait for flashes 991 flashes 3. Then press channel

Up repeatedly until the sound

Bar Powers off

If you get the unit to power

Off press and hold mute and select wait for flashes 993

Select this will lock the

Volume to the sound bar

Did you try to set it up through

The menu. Menu/settings/remote control/program remote/program av1 follow prompts

Re: Sony Soundbar - Optical Connection - Programming Remote

I just did and my model did not come up. So I chose I don't know my model number.

I followed the instructions - with the slider in DTV mode and I hate to be a jerk, I really don't want to go through 88 codes. I did 9 and that's about it.

From your first message, why would the channel up control the power to the soundbar? I don't get how that would work.

Thanks again. Smiley Happy

WAIT.............

Code 10 worked but it only controls the volume not the power. Should I keep trying?

Power  is controlled by the middle PWR button, not the ON and OFF buttons.  you would need to slide the switch
