Signing into box with remote

Please help. Set up the box with no problem, synched it to the tv, but now it's asking for username and password but remote is only allowing me to use #'s. Neither my PW or User ID is all #'s.. Also can't figure out how to delete what I've already entered.

When are you being asked to enter a username and password?

Also, what type of DIRECTV receiver do you have?

Make sure that you've activated the receiver on your account by signing into your myAT&T.

Let us know more about what's going on, so we know how to proceed.
