Genie HR44-500 freezes during playback on a recording

I have an over 3 hours movie recorded and during playback the HR44-500 suddenly freezes and shows the window asking if I want to delete or keep the show.

This is not the first time it happens, I tried rebooting the Genie to no avail. Any ideas ??? Or is just a faulty hard drive ?

For what I read I am not the only user with the same problem but it seems that DirectTV is not acknowledging anything.

What channel(s)?

This is usually a symptom of an intermittent or weak satellite signal, which can interrupt the recording and cause the "Delete or Keep" message.   Please check and post back your satellite signal readings ...

Please post back with your signal readings for each satellite's transponders (and both tuners if applicable).  You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength".  Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner using these examples.  A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):

Satellite transponders (32 total at 101º)

[Most of your standard definition channels are beamed from 101ºW]

9-16   x   x   x   x   x   x   x   x

17-24  x   x   x   x   x   x   x   x

25-32  x   x   x   x   x   x   x   x

Satellite transponders (3 total at 110º)

[Not present with Slimline3 dish. No channels are currently beamed from this satellite]

Its not nonsense its a valid question. WE would like to see your signal levels.

It would be wise not to insult

People trying to help you out

Weak signal levels can very likely cause this issue

You need to do more research before judging the advice given.  Sometimes when a program is interrupted during recording, a nice message will appear during playback telling you the program was cut short.  Other times the program can appear to be full length, but at the point the signal interruption occurred, the DVR will simply ask if you want to delete.  If you'd prefer not to post your signal levels, or do not know how to do same, you're welcome to call Directv and requerst a service visit.  Free with the protection plan, otherwise $50.

As I wrote the movie was fully recorded. I was able to pass the spot where it was stopping using the fast forward option from the start point. As I mentioned this was not the first time this was hapenning, and from what I read on this forum and in posting outside this forum I am not the only one having this problem and no comment from DirecTV as of today. The problem is not signal related, is a glitch on the software or faulty drives (bad blocks). This never happened with the old DVRs. Thanks for your postings.
