my mini genie wont connect to the server

I recently moved in with a roommate and he sold me his tv including the mini genie he already had installed in his room. I moved it to my room and connected it to the tv and the cable aux from the back of the mini going to the wall. It starts the initial set up, but stops when it is searching for the network/servers. It shows a screen saying "would you like to try again and search for servers. Do we need someone from Direct tv to come to the house to install an additional piece? I though i would be able to just move it to my room without a problem. Any info would be great.

probably the cable going to the wall is not connected to the SWM network.  if you don't what this means, then perhaps you should get DirecTV to come and relocate the receiver for you.  there will be a flat fee of $50.00
