TiVo DVR will not let me Prerecord PPV Movies

I have a new  TiVo DVR and the first time I tried to select a Pay Per View movie that was showing later that evening it would not let me.  The only option I had when highlighting the movie was "Press Select to Go Back" and that just took me back to the guide.  I called DirecTV but the person said she had never heard of that before.  She was going to tell tech support.  As the hour approached when the movie was due to start she selected it for me and we watched it okay.

Has anyone come across this?  I ditched my DirecTV HDR as it was slow and I didn't like the interface but at least I could select a PPV movie to record and play later.

Have you tried pressing the Record 'R" key? on the PPV title

 

First thing to try is resetting your DVR/Receiver using the red button behind the front panel access card door. See if that helps.

I haven't tried the 'R' Key will try that (I really should't have to as pressing Select should give me the option of recording the show).

Regarding  the second suggestion been there done that.

Yep the Record button did indeed work.  The manual that came with the DVR is out of date.
