Series Recording Options

My DVR w DirecTV s/w As a default setting of recording in savings only five episodes when I record the series. How can I increase the default setting up to 10 episodes or all episodes? I would like it to be the default setting for the DVR, so I don’t have to increase it each time I record of new series.

Welcome to the Community Forums! I definitely understand how this has become a cause of concern for you, but I would be more than happy to address this.


Based on my research, you should be able to change these settings by going to Menu>Settings>DVR>Series Options>Episodes To Keep, and change it to All Episodes.

Thank you for your reply. However, under menu and then settings, there is no choice for DVR. Instead the choices are info, parental controls, favorite channels, Internet set up, remote control, display, audio, accessibility, power saving, Hall home, edit my teams, Jeanie opt in, satellite, help, and reset.
Also, I went under all of the above options, and there was no choice for Series Settings.

What is the next step?

I see, thank you for letting me know. Try going to Menu > Recordings > Manage Recordings. The option to record the entire series can be found here; however, you will need to set this for every series you want to record.

Thank you but that's what I want to avoid. How can I increase the setting only once, and then have it work for all future eps? I'm paying for a a good/expensive dvr.

Menu > Left arrow to highlight Recordings> Press SELECT, twice>Left arrow to highlight ALL RECORDINGS> then down arrow to MANAGE RECORDINGS> Press SELECT> Arro down to TYPICAL RECORDING PREFERENCES> press SELECT.   Now you are in the correct screen to modify the settings for recording defaults.   Easy, right?  Thanks for progress.

I apologize for the inconvenience, but this is currently not possible. I can definitely pass your feedback to the software engineers. This way, they may be able to incorporate a fix in a software update.

EDIT TO ADD:  FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT!!

 

 

I just installed a replacement DVR and I don’t understand why this function was removed with the new update. I had it set on my old DVR which was the same model.

Go to your playlist and then left arrow. Then down to manage recordings.  Then “typical recording preferences”
