Receiver changes programs on its own

HR54/700, Samsung 55UH6300 (Nov 2016 manufacture)

Most recent 2 situations were yesterday.

1. Using TV app to watch Amazon 4k video, screen switched to DirecTV box a few seconds after Amazon program was started.

2. Using DirecTV Pandora app, system dropped it and went to most recent channel we were watching.

What's happening, and how do I prevent this behavior?

Re: Receiver changes programs on its own

Hi @gbynum

This is most commonly related to a feature called "HDMI Control", which can change TV to the DIRECTV input automatically. To adjust this go into MENU > Settings & Help > Settings > Display > Video> Set HDMI Control to off.

Thanks for being a valued customer!

Re: Receiver changes programs on its own

Thanks!  I didn't suspect this because it switched from DirecTV Pandora to DirecTV programming which didn't involve an HDMI change.

Under what conditions is HDMI control good?

Will this setting eliminate the automatically switching to my BD input when we power the player on ... as in to remove a disc?

Re: Receiver changes programs on its own

Hi @gbynum,

Lets say you turn on the receiver, the idea is the TV will tune into that input. One of the managers here as a BluRay player and U-verse. When he turns on the player, the TV goes to that input. It is a convenience function for the most part.

Re: Receiver changes programs on its own

Thanks.  I'm of the old school who prefers to make my own decisions, but modern technology triumphs.
The question of switching inputs is one for Samsung, though; my question for DirecTV is why a HR54 RECEIVER selected Pandora drops and a HR54 TV program stops.

Re: Receiver changes programs on its own

Hi @gbynum

Great question! The HDMI input might not be related to the Pandora concern. We recommend resetting your Genie with the red button http://bit.ly/2i0nMfw to see if that helps Pandora from dropping.

Re: Receiver changes programs on its own

We'd done power cycle, that, and a software reset; no difference; will live with it.  A tech is scheduled here on Monday to finish the initial (unfinished) installation ... 4k was not set up and "the RVU must be enabled on site".  As I understand it, that will make a connection change, so we'll see what comes.  Aside, the conversation with "corporate" was quite well done.

Re: Receiver changes programs on its own

Thank you for the information.  My customers have been calling, and when I searched for an answer (I wasn't going to call customer service and ask them) I found all kinds of humorous remarks.  (1-800-EXERCISIM) was my favorite.  Shooting the box with Silver Bullets was 2nd).
