RV TV setup

We used to use in our RV a Directv DVR and a D12-700 which is an old style receiver box in the bedroom. Directv has discontinued support for the old style receiver box, so other than doing without a receiver in the bedroom or getting another directv dvr to use in the bedroom, is their anyway to have a wired genie in the bedroom that would run off our hr24100 or any other ideas would be appreciated....

other info which may not be relevant....

The hr24100 we setup as a dvr genie which becomes part of our whole home swim system when not using it in the RV.

when in the RV, We run the hr24100 off of a 18” round dish.   We change the settings of dvr to work with this dish.

we leave our hr44500 which controls our whole home swim system hooked up at home and do not want to move it.

Re: RV TV setup

The HR24 is not a Genie.  The round dish will be obsolete in April you need get a SWM slimline dish on a sled/tripod mount and learn to aim it or get a Winegard Travler.  You should be able to swap the D12 for an H25 or HR24 receiver at no cost.

Re: RV TV setup

What does that mean the round dish will be obsolete in April to us using it? It already appears it doesn’t support the 13 volt sat in and we are using it now with the hr24 set to multi switch and 18” round dish and we get all the channels we normally get. Will all that just go away and we won’t be able to get any channels?

so we have our equipment set to multi switch not swm and or wondering which receiver to use in that setting ( HR24 or H25)

also as a side note how do we get our local channels  when we are home and don’t get them when we leave the area? we know it happens but was wondering how the receiver figures it out?

thanks so much

Right. The round dish must be replaced with a modern Slimline HD Dish. Your HR24 or H25 will work fine with that dish.

You won't receive your local channels once you travel outside your home city. Those channels are delivered via "spot beam" satellite antennas aimed at your home city.
