Re: The new user interface is horrible

Thanks, litzdog911. Resetting twice in 30 minutes resolved my problem. Now, I hope somebody at DirecTV tech department learns about this because the 2 techs I spoke with didn't suggest this.

I love the new GUI look & feel.  All my TV's are full 1080p HD with 120 Hz refresh.  32" & 40" Sony BRAVIA's, plus a SHARP 65" AQUOS.  The dark colors work well in my situation.  Nothing to complain about!

Re: The new user interface is horrible

I hate the new Guide. It's white on a dark background, letters are blurry. I changed my setting on tv according to LG, no change in the Guides color. It's slower, suggests channels i never watch. DTV is going backwards not forward with their technology.

Re: The new user interface is horrible

New User Interface is terrible. Text is smaller, and text color/contrast is very difficult to read, especially shows that are greyed out because they have already been watched/started. I don't understand why some people think that is looks better. I don't have the HD package, but I have an HD TV. Maybe you have to pay for the HD package to be able to see the improvement, and if you don't then you get a degradation.

1. because it is

2. the update only applies to HD and HDDVR receivers

3. what is the model of your receiver?  if you have an HD receiver you must have an HD package unless you are in an MPEG4 market which requires HD equipment in order to receive locals channels.  if this is the case, then adding and HD package will unlock the HD resolutions on the receiver and will make the HD GUI look a lot better.  but if you have an HD TV and HD receiver, then why you don't have HD programming???

Increase font size on tv when using the Guide?

I'm a new Direct TV user - from Dish. I'm really having a problem with reading the items from the Guide. Is there any way to change the background color or to increase the size of the fonts? Thanks.

How Can I Change My Menus Back To Previous Version.

I turned on my TV (directv) to find they "enhanced" the menu and guide interface. I'm not sure if the thought behind it was intended for 4K TV's or what but It looks horrible. Graphics are small and muddy while parts of the menu are difficult to read. In some cases it seems the new style was pushed out before the full set of menus was complete (no changes to some of the sub-menus). I do, however, like the transparency effect and would not mind that feature in the old style of menus.

Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a was to opt-out of this new style of menus as I would prefer the old style instead.

I Agree 100%! The change is unwelcomed and not thought out very well.

Awful!!! More remote presses required to accomplish the same action.  Not very intuitive, and missing functionality from the old user interface.  You would hope that the interface designers would add functionality rather than remove it (or hide it someplace that you can no longer find it).
