NEW GENIE GUI UPDATE...IN FLORIDA

Has anyone in Florida received the new Genie GUI update yet? Do you know name of the code 0x....? Any ETA on receiving it? Is there a CE being pushed for it? I have the HR54-500 FYI. I ALSO LIVE IN SOUTH FLORIDA, BROWARD COUNTY.

Re: NEW GENIE GUI UPDATE...IN FLORIDA

Why try to rush it?  Nobody seems to like the new Genie GUI.  It will roll out in due time.

Re: NEW GENIE GUI UPDATE...IN FLORIDA

Thanks for your reply! I'm aware some people are not too fond of it but
some people are. Some people also aren't used to change but in time you
get used to it or wonder what you ever did w/o it. I do like the dark
theme and I keep on hearing about it every day on my Twitter feed and I
don't want to hear about it every day and have to wait another 6 weeks
for it.
I heard the rollout began end of October and will take up to 14 weeks. I
don't know why I'm just hearing about it now since it's been out for 7
weeks already.
Again, just want to know if anyone in Florida got it already or if
there's a CE being pushed out on Friday/Saturday nights?
Besides Directv wouldn't change unless they were flooded with complaints
via phone or social media or if customers threatened to leave them.
I've read all about it so I just want to get it over with already, it's
inevitable anyway.

"Besides Directv wouldn't change unless [1] they were flooded with complaints via phone or social media or [2] if customers threatened to leave them."  Both cases are true, and yet DirecTV still refuses to rescind their basically flawed downgrade.  After 12 years of loyal service, but absolute refusal by DirecTV to fix ANY of their problems, I am regretfully leaving DirecTV.

Finally, an honest answer from an AT&T/DirecTV ACE advocate.  For more details, go to "New Directv GUI - ATTROCIOUS DISASTER! - Are you kidding me?"

Aces are just knowledgeable customers who provide assistance on their own time. Answers are honest, and in most cases very accurate even if some people do not like the answers given. It is rare that an "Ace" provide incorrect info, but we are all human and so not perfect.

I have not weighed in on the new GUI until my system gets it.

All of these reviews though are from beginning of November. By now maybe
some updates/tweaks may have occurred but what I'm really wondering is
the fact that it's 12/24 nearly 2 months since rollout began and I still
have not received it.

Re: NEW GENIE GUI UPDATE...IN FLORIDA

It is rolling out to customers, not all at once. So with millions of subscribers, and the huge feedback they are getting, it will take some time. It gets to us whenever our turn comes. Also appears that only the 2nd and 3rd generation Genie (HR44, HR54) and the 1st Genie-2 (HS17) are getting the new GUI.

Re: NEW GENIE GUI UPDATE...IN FLORIDA

Well they may have 20 or so million subscribers but I doubt even half of
them have the HR44 and above (I have the HR54-500). Most customers
probably don't follow them on Twitter and most don't even know about the
new Genie GUI or what a GUI even is! Most may not be aware that they get
software updates or what Cutting Edge even was/is?!
However once the few million get the update be sure that the CSRs' will
be bombarded with calls/complaints?
Most probably don't even know about looking up the info on the new gui
on the web, the info. that Stuart Sweet and Solid Signal and Directv
puts out in .pdf's, etc.
Most probably don't even know what a RBR is and that it fixes more than
half of their glitches/problems and rarely is there even a need to call
them.

Re: NEW GENIE GUI UPDATE...IN FLORIDA

Be grateful, because you'll hate it when you do see it.  As I understand it, the update is only rolling out to those with 4K compatible equipment.  If you don't have that, you are lucky to stay with the legible software you have.

No, everyone with an HR44/54 will get it, whethere you have 4K or not.

Re: NEW GENIE GUI UPDATE...IN FLORIDA

@TexasBrit  I said 4K compatible equipment.  Those are 4K compatible.  They don't have to have 4K installed to get the update.  Only pre-4K compatible equipment will not get the update.

Re: NEW GENIE GUI UPDATE...IN FLORIDA

@TheBlueMax

The 2nd and 3rd generation Genie HR44 and HR54 and the Genie-2 HS17 get the new GUI.

It is not just 4K compatible equipment as it includes the HR44. Only the HR54/HS17 support 4K through the 4K Client connection. If you do a 4K upgrade and have an HR44 it would be swapped to an HR54 as it is not compatible.
