Re: Mini Genie defaults to 480p

Hello @Gis2k10

How long has this been going on?

Have you tried holding the exit button for 10 seconds to see if quailty changes back?

Did you uncheck in recheck the resolution when trying to change it in setting does it change at all?

Re: Mini Genie defaults to 480p

It's been going on for 2 days. I have not tried the exit Burton for 10
seconds, but I've tried unchecking and rechecking the boxes, but I'll try
that

I am having the same problem.  When do you hold down the exit button?

Hello,

Thanks! Pressing the exit fixed my issueSmiley Happy

i had called Directv tech support and spent 20 minutes with the rep and she could not help me.

is there a way to train the phone support and let them know to tell the customer to try pressing the exit button for 10 seconds and see if this fixes the issue. LOL

Re: Mini Genie defaults to 480p

Holding Exit for 10 seconds did not work for me.

I don't want to keep unplugging and plugging my Mini genie.    My TV does support 1080 but directv doesn't think so.    I've been having this problem intermittently for several years, but intermittently.  It has occured more often recently however, and my common fixes (just restarting everything, hasn't been as successful)

Re: Mini Genie defaults to 480p

Yes, 90 percent of the time holding the exit button will revert the mini to HD display - sometimes even that does not work and only a power cycle or two will allow the Genie to display HD.  But why should I have to keep doing this over and over every time I power on the system?  None of my other HD sources behave like this.  I use a Roku, an Apple TV and an Oppo BRD player, all of which must comply with HDCP, and none of them change to lower resolution images they all remain set to 1080P as I set them.  The DirecTV Genie is the only device that will not hold it's settings of 1080i and 1080p.  There is something wrong with the software in these units.  I hope DTV/AT&T releases a fix for this soon... I can get most of the programming I want on the Roku so maybe I should just cancel DTV once and for all.
