My receiver continues to lose internet connection on a daily basis. I can reconnect without any problem other than TIME spent doing it. I have contacted technical support several times via CHAT and today, I called and spoke to a live person via telephone. After successfully reconnecting (Advanced mode), I asked why this continues to happen and was told it just does. They cannot guarantee any receiver to remain connected. This is beyond my understanding! How can such a successful company NOT have quality receivers? Why such poor equipment?

Hello @yankees2019, that’s not the experience we want you to have, let’s address your issue.
In terms of connectivity, are you using a wired connection or Wi-Fi? Connectivity can be dropped easily, especially on Wi-Fi if you’re too far away from the receiver.
Also, what speed plan do you have for it?
Please let us know.

I have the HR44 receiver and I don't think it is the receivers as much as the sorry and worthless software upgrade that was pushed almost 2 years ago. The guide changed for the worse, it became more difficult and confusing to manage recordings, and that is when the receivers started constantly dropping connections. The entire user interface is much worse than it was prior to the "update". Updates are supposed to be improvements and not crippling roadblocks to our being able to enjoy the DirecTV experience.
Yesterday I reset and went through the 20 steps and 15 minutes necessary to reconnect to the network and when I checked this morning it has disconnected already. Referring to the article cited and following all of the steps outlined does nothing to correct the inherent problem. It is inexcusable that there is no quick access to selecting the wireless option and being able to either use the WPS option or entering the wireless network password. Instead, you have to have to try the reconnect option, then reset the receiver, wait the 5 minutes for it to sort itself out, then go through the login and pray that the connection lasts through the end of the day.
