Caller ID has always been a rather flaky feature on DirecTV's Receivers/DVRs. What sort of phone service do you have? Do you have DSL internet? If so, do you have DSL filters properly installed?
Also, double check that you're connecting the phone jack and not the ethernet jack. It's an easy mistake to make.

I have at&t with DSL Internet. It is connected correct.

Sometimes two DSL filters connected together can help.

Then you're probably out of luck. Like I said originally, DirecTV's Caller ID has always been flaky.
