771 - Signal loss on satellite in 1.

I have an HR44 and an HD tv. Worked fine for a long time, but the last 3 months I get this signal loss message on about half the channels (Choice package). Lately the fox news channels 359 and 360 are out. Never had this before.

I have the HD net package and only the Sony movie channel comes in. Most of the 200 and 300 series channels are out. I live in North Texas. I had the dish serviced in Oct. 2015 and got a new receiver (HR44) and remotes. I am tired of this.

Re: 771 - Signal loss on satellite in 1.

The 359/360 are DNS channels that you shouldn't be getting unless you have an RV account or waivers from your local channels unless you don't have any.

771 is usually a dish alignment problem if you will post all your sat signals on at least 2 tuners we can tell you for sure otherwise there are videos on youtube to will help if you want to DIY or call DTV for a tech $50 covered if you have the protection plan.

The fox channels 359 and 360 are standard in the Choice package. What are you talking about?

What is DNS channels and RV account?

Re: 771 - Signal loss on satellite in 1.

@shannon02 was mistaken about those Fox channels.

99% of these problems are caused by dish misalignment. Please post back with your signal readings for each satellite's transponders (and both tuners if applicable). You'll find these readings under "Menu" -> "Setup" -> "System Setup" -> Satellite -> "View Signal Strength". Note the "+" and "-" symbols next to the "Satellite" and "Tuner" entries where you can toggle the readings between the various satellites and both DVR tuners.

Fill in your readings for each satellite and tuner using these examples. A properly aligned dish will show 80-90s on most of the relevant transponders (although some will be low or zero):

Re: 771 - Signal loss on satellite in 1.

You either have a misaligned dish or a bad LNB.

Re: 771 - Signal loss on satellite in 1

We started receiving thE #771 msg on HGTV channel a couple of  days ago.  "ACE - Expert" suggested securing some data; it follows below.  We have made no changes to any of the equipment.  We have had a couple of days of 100 temps, with 68 degrees at night.  Could this have impaced the satelite?  Have done the following:

  • Reset the receivers (x3)
  • Refreshed the receivers
  • Checked the dish
  • Checked all connections
  • Called DirecTV, who said they couldn't fix the problem from their offices.  Suggest we pay $100 for technician to come out and remedy the problem.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Bobi
