I used to be able to connect/register my iPhone to the DIRECTV app and it had no issues seeing and downloading shows from my Genie HR44. After a software update a few months ago, I could no longer download shows/stream from my DVR and could only stream shows that were listed as On Demand. After repeated attempts to contact customer service, having my request for help elevated to supposedly get help within 24-48 hrs (never happened 6 weeks later still waiting), still can't get my app to "see" my DVR which is connected to my home network.
Very frustrated that DIRECTV has numerous users/customers with similar problems and it's obvious that the app is just not working. Please fix the problem so your Genie can perform as advertised, or I may just have to look elsewhere for cable!!

Thank you for reaching out to the Community Forums. Streaming to your DTV app is a excellent way to expand your watching experience. I am sorry about the difficulties you are having trying to connect to your receiver. I have a suggestion which may correct it.
Confirm your mobile device is running iOS 9 and later, or if it is an Android device, it is running OS 4.2 or later. Please uninstall, and reinstall the app. Please re-register the mobile device as before.

Everything was fine until 2 days ago. Unlike others I don’t have the problem with the recorded shows list on my DVR, but now my DVR can’t be found by the app so downloading shows to my IPad is impossible.

I got it to work!!!! Here is what I did:
Deleted the app from my iPad and Mae sure I was totally signed out in setting:"s
i set up thr wireless like it was new (entered my router password and everything)
turned off the external device allow in whole home setting
reset receiver and turned external device access back on under while house
downloaded app again and made it make me sign in (sign in through the app, not the TV under settings).
Pressed DVR and it registered it with no issues, I have all my channels back and DVR shows!

I've been having this problem since the 8/20/18 update and whenever I'm trying to stream away from my home it might play for a couple of seconds and then say can't connect to my DVR and unable to watch live shows. I don't know if this will help for you but I turned off my" auto prepare" in the app settings at the top left of the screen. And so far so good I'm screaming again. Hope this helps for you!

Before I called customer service I tried that 3 different times. It’s like the part of the program that connects to the apps has a flaw. It worked perfect almost two years. Then what ever you did to update or switch platforms has caused the problem. And after 47 min with service on hold for 33 min. The tell me I need tech support and kept sending to use my att app told them that not where the debt is. Please figure this out spent hour researching seems this is a huge problem not just small or isolated the people answering the phones should know this.
