Short Cuts can be viewed on a compatible device or on line at www.DIRECTV.com/nfL. To find Shortcuts on your mobile device, download NFL SUNDAY TICKET from the app store and extend the drawer in the Highlights Section.
Things to know
Due to NFL Rules, Short Cuts is not available during the live game play. You can view games Monday through Wednesday.
DIRECTV only has rights for Sunday Ticket games. Non-Sunday Ticket games (e.g. Monday Night Football) will not have any associated shortcuts since we do not have rights to this content. This means they will not be available on the app.

The MAX package charges an extra $90 for Red Zone, Fantasy Zone, and Shortcuts. I don't use the Fantasy Zone channel, so now that Shorcuts is gone the question is do I pay $90 for Red Zone? I don't think so.
How long should I wait to see if they fix this before I change packages?

I cannot get any answers out of them either except to watch it on my phone. I do not and will not watch football on my phone. I pay $350 to be able to watch them on my tv and now you take that away without warning or explanition. After 20 years of Directv this will be it. Still says it on their website and the NFL website that it is on Channels 705-6

Seriously, who the heck wants to watch football on a phone?! I can see if you're trapped in an elevator or the backseat during a traffic jam but, otherwise, football belongs on a big, glorious HDTV. The Roku app does that thankfully but, the quality is crap compared to the real TV channel feed. The sound is bad, way too loud to the point of distortion (something that never happens on the real ST channels). The picture buffers, stutters, blurs, and and pixelates and this is on pre-recorded Shortcuts, not the full live games, which are a trainwreck on the app. It's not my internet connection. I have very high-speed broadband and never have streaming issues with any other Roku app. Not Amazon, not Netflix, not Hulu, not HBOGO, not Fox Sports Go, not ESPN, not anything else.
I can't even imagine what they were thinking with this. They have plenty of bandwidth to spare for TV with two new satellites and no new HD channels or SD channels upgraded to HD in more than a year (which is a travesty considering we still don't have FXMHD, AHCHD, NicktoonsHD, or HBOFWHD). A few scattered part-time 4K channels mean nothing to me so, that's no excuse for this.
The worst part of this is the deception. No real warning or notice until it was too late so now we all have to scramble. The second worst part about it is that they're obsessed with snagging the cord cutters but the quality on the app is garbage, probably because by moving so much stuff to app-only that they're over burdening their servers beyond capacity or they just don't care about providing value to anyone. As a result, they're angering us by taking services away from TV and they're angering the streaming only customers at the same time by giving them bad quality and pleasing nobody. Directv/AT&T's motto: If you can't please all the time people all the time, you might as well tick off everybody always.
I don't care what their site says about not being able to cancel or get credited after the season starts because they falsely advertised this feature until yesterday, this on them, not us. Even their Twitter people were insisting up until last night that Shortcuts were on Ch 705 and 706 and that nothing was wrong. They were asking people complaining to DM their account numbers as if Shortcuts disappearance was an isolated issue confined to a few people with bad luck. I'm out of contract anyway so canceling outright wouldn't hurt me but, that's a last resort only.

I received a vm from a rep of President indicating they are NOT changing this as their data shows not enough subscribers use it. So it is a final decision & we must do what we need to do.

Re the technical quality. I agree. The sound had a hollowness to it with added background scratchiness too. Excellent. The video was over compressed. Details were flat. lots of up/down jitter, lots of low frame rate judder. The grass looks super flat. Just an awful picture.
The issue isn't so much the low amount of users as it is the revenue this product generates. They gladly took our money, then degraded the product without telling anyone that they planned to do so.
On the cost side of the argument, I'm tired of DirecTV pushing for of their expenses onto the customer. This is equivalent to another price increase. I'm being asked to buy another device to display the content on my TV.
What happened to the integration into the DTV receivers that would allow me to record/watch this in an on demand fashion. That would be better then needing to switch away from the DirecTV ui. That action dilutes their brand value. It also increases the complexity of using the ‘product.’ A good product manager knows that you do not want to force the user away from your equipment and to switch inputs on the TV. That creates friction and frustration in the experience.
More than ever I’d like to see NFL ST on multiple carriers so there would be competition to provide a quality product. Sadly, given the contract length I might not live long enough to see that happen.

Agree on all points. This was not only a sketchy, borderline fraudulent action, it's incredibly stupid. It increases complexity and cost to the consumer while providing ZERO added value.
The part that bugs me the most though is the deception. Having it clearly stated on multiple web pages that Shortcuts was available on Ch 705/706 until yesterday, when their website says it's too late to cancel or downgrade, is unconscionable and shows clear intent to deceive and defraud.

I have been a DircTV subscriber since 1996. Moving NFL SHORTCUTS to mobile devices only is UNACCEPTABLE. Not to mention, classic BAIT AND SWITCH.
What makes anyone think that my family and I would want to huddle around a cell phone or tablet to watch the SHORT CUTS while our 64 inc Plasma TV sits dormant?? Who's bright idea was this? And who's idea was it to NOT COMMUNICATE THIS TO YOUR SUBSRCIBERS??
Not to mention, many times we didn't know the results of the games on Monday. Now, on the mobile device, in order to access Short Cuts, you are focred to see the score!!
You have COMPLETLEY RUINED this very important feature. After 20 years, this will be my last with DIRECTV. Ever since ATT bought DirecTV, it's quality and service have trended in the wrong direction. I've put up with picture issues whenever it's cloudy for 20+ years, SPECIFICALLY because of the NFL package. But you have just stuck it to us by removing a feature we used, and not notifying us BEOFRE taking our money.
I'll be making a lot of noise about this. Social media, YOUTUBE.
I'm just utterly shocked anyone thought this was a good idea. It speaks to the quality of leadership at DirecTV right now. Which is POOR POOR POOR!

I am opening up a Better Business Bureau complaint regarding this issue. Enjoy.

Precisely. AT&T is screwing us over and couldn't care less how unacceptable their behavior is. They probably want us all to cancel. Who needs loyal customers who pay full price for all the bells and whistles for a decade? Apparently, they think they don't.
What also engrages me is how many people got emails before the season offering STM for free or half price as a thanks for alleged 'loyalty' whereas those of us who've paid thousands of dollars for it over the course of several years didn't. On top of that, they devalued our package without warning or notice by taking away a feature many of us valued greatly.
I used to defend DTV but no more. This is just flat out wrong.
