DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

I’ve been watching and assessing this issue for a while and now I’m complaining. I experience zero issues with the DIRECTV app when I choose to watch CNN or MSNBC. No incidences of buffering or app player freezing while watching on my iPhone. However, I constantly encounter these issues when I choose to watch Fox News via the DIRECTV app.

ATT, your app developers need some oversight! I pay for DiRECTV and ATT wireless service. I don’t want, need, or appreciate some app developer’s political leanings trying to frustrate me so I won’t want to watch Fox News!

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

On the Direct TV app, it seems that Fox News channel is band limited, also it freezes every 20 minutes or so and I have to restart the app.  In addition, CNN always come on as the default channel when I select Live TV Streaming, and it will take many pages of scrolling through the channels before I can get Fox News.  Also, there is no way to filter the search or jump directly to Fox News.  Very frustrating.  Direct TV app crashes often as well.  I am using FoxNews App instead.

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

Same problem absolutely I can get CNN I can get MSNBC I can get almost any other network no problems try to put fox on, the app slows down don’t know the technical terms, Today Fox news wouldn’t even load on the DIRECTV app, I have two phones they both do it I have an iPad they do it there, I’m not a conspiracy not but somethings up with this company.

Maybe now that AT&T owns everything big brother will have a easier time watching all of us and censoring what we can and cannot watch,  and think, live in 1984 socialism today.

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

I also have problems with getting Fox News on both iPhone and iPad.  No other news station has this problem.  I THOUGHT THIS WAS AMERICA, NOT RUSSIA??????

Why is this not being addressed??  You are more than happy to collect my $200/ month for your “service”, but it is OBVIOUS that I am not the only one with this inexcusable situation.

I attempted  to go through the FOX app, and Direct TV is not allowing this, either.

We need some answers, now.

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

I have the same problem too. It is clear AT&T Directv Now is throttling Fox News. I have a 1 meg Google fiber connection over ethernet. I do not have a speed problem. Fox News is the only channel that buffers on Directv Now. I have another streaming service and I can watch Fox News with no buffering. AT&T why are you throttling Fox News. CNN and other liberal stations  work fine on Directv Now. This is despicable!!!! I have other options and I will use them if AT&T continues to politicize programming.

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

I tried this too, but when I load the FoxNews app, it says I don't have authorization when DirecTV is listed as my provider.  Sounds funny to me!

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

Sorry that I haven’t replied. Extremely busy.

The Fox News app started saying that about 2 weeks ago. I uninstalled and reinstalled that allowed it to work for a while. Tried to load it just now with same issue.

I will do some research tonight and see if there are any other options.

I don't understand this conversation! I know I would never have asked about

What was my original question?

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

It is the Direct TV app in general... its just buggy.

What I do know is that there are multiple apps for the same program. Mine was worse a while back on EVERY channel because my droid tablet downloaded the APP for a Droid Phone not tablet. It works better now but not perfect. It still buffers on EVERY channel I watch. It is not throttling, or a developer choosing 1 network over the other, it is just buggy technology. Once they finally fix the app, ALL the stations should work most of the time without buffering.

I wonder how bad it is on the Direct TV NOW app?

Keep trying to fix the issues Direct TV, dont listen to all the biased propaganda machine bots. LOL

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

Our issue isn't the App or connection speed. It's some SJW working for AT&T who doesn't like FoxNews or it's viewers and is purposely throttling the channel. Every other channel is like watching TV at home. It's only FoxNews.

Right Smiley Happy

I love how every mention of an issue with a Fox station always brings out the conspiracy theorists.

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

Going to throw my two cents in here since I found this thread searching this common issue; I too cannot watch Fox News most of the time when *other* news channels stream just fine.  Another work associate uses a competing satellite provider and does not experience such issues while streaming FNC.

Technical Details:

Multiple ISP have this issue-- I travel for work. WiFi, AT&T free data, VPN or not... doesn't matter, issues persist.

iPhone 6s & 7s have same issue.

Experienced on iOS 10, 11, and now 12.

Fox Business does NOT have this issue.

Deletion and reinstallation if DTV app doesn't help.

Restart of device doesn't help.

Re: DIRECTV App problem with Fox News

So I've officially given up.  I complained to the FCC and then the Office of the President got in touch with me at DirecTV.  We talked for a bit and then they had their IT Help Desk department call me like I didn't know how to use the app.  I explained to them what was going on and then I got pushed to another department and then back to the help desk.  I'm not arrogant but have my Associates, Bachelors, my MBA, several certifications in my field, literally dug ditches for a living at one point, drove trucks another point (both working my way through college), traveled the world and our beautiful country, I don't work in the tech industry but my job requires me to use tech all day long.  Not counting two young kids that have me keeping up with the latest and greatest.  Point is, I'm fairly smart and worldly and know how to use an app, and I know it's not my Ipad that's the issue.  In the end, they actually don't want to resolve the issue, just spin you around until you give up, which I did.  I was truly hoping they were going to say it's a bandwidth issue for fox because it's so popular it slows it down, or fox purposely does something on their end, but no.

When I want to watch, I'm just using the Fox News app now and it works flawlessly. I just use the directv app for the other channels I want to watch.
