Rotate? You mean change your avatar? Click your current avatar in the upper right to bring up the popup menu. Click My Settings in the menu. In the Settings click Avatars. From there you will be able to choose one of the defaults or upload one of your own.

I had the same issue. I chose a pic from my library and it showed up sideways. I closed it, chose the same pic a second time and it loaded correctly. But, you are correct, I did not find a way to rotate it.
