Email being marked as "read" on computer...need to stay unread

When my boss reads his email on his BB, it is automatically marked as "read" on his computer also.  He would like for this to NOT happen.

Checked the email settings on his BB and they are:

Delete On:  Handheld

Wireless Reconcile:  On

On Conflicts:  Mailbox Wins

It's only for email. Wireless Sync for Contacts and Wireless Reconcile for email are two different things.

Will that affect his contacts syncing???  That was a problem before.  Or will that only affect his email???
