So I've been struggling with an early termination and want to know if this was a common thing to deal with.
I called in October of this year and inquired about my early termination fee since I would be having to move soon. I was told my ETF was about $190 while transferring service would cost almost $300. Obviously, I said I would choose the ETF because I've already had a less than ideal experience with DL up to this point. No problem, rep told me since I wasn't ready to go through with the cancel quite yet that my fee would be less since I was waiting a few weeks to cancel. Fast forward to early November, I called to finalize the cancellation on my move-out date and to my surprise, my ETF had increased by $100! After discussing this with a rep in Jamaica who I could barely hear and understand, it was determined that the last person I talked to just gave me the wrong number. Not having the time to be on the line with her any longer, I cancelled the service and told her I would talk to a supervisor later on.
Now I have not received a final bill, and just got an email stating my ETF is $313! After spending two hours on chat today (to have a written transcript of my conversation, since we seem to be having issues with mistakes here) I got absolutely nowhere. They are going to review the calls to find the mistake but apparently even if they find it, they still won't make any adjustments to the ETF. Normally I would just pay it, but being initially told it was so cheap I went ahead and booked with another alarm company at my new residence! Had I known the ETF would be so expensive, I would have just rode it out till the end of my contract at the new residence. Has anyone else had this kind of communication hassle? It's already been a nightmare getting to supervisors and now they claim I have to call back and wait on hold to find out when they've reviewed my initial call. The last supervisor I talked to just would not arrange to call me when they were done reviewing and I don't understand why. Hopefully someone can help me through this mess .
