Why is my voicemail not showing up?

iPhone 7.  When I call my number I can leave a message.  The call shows up under recent calls, but it does not show a voicemail.  I assume the message is somewhere, but I cant seem to retrieve them as they are not showing up on the visual voicemail for me to retieve.  This was working fine, but not anymore.  Any suggestions?

Hello @gbonness1, and thanks for reaching out to the AT&T Community for help.

We understand the importance of having up-to-date voicemail and visual voicemail for any alerts and notifications! And we would be more than happy to get this taken care of.

In order to access your voicemails, the Visual Voicemail must first be set up on the device as well as enable cellular data and internet access.

To access and check your voicemail messages, please follow these steps:

  1. Select the Phone App Icon on the phone home screen.
  2. Select Voicemail tape icon Note: you can also check your voice messages by the Phone App, select and hold the 1 key > if prompted, enter your voicemail password > follow the prompts to listen to your message.
  3. Select the desired message.
  4. To Play the message, listen to the message on Speaker, Call Back or Delete the message, select the desired option.

You can also visit our Troubleshoot & Resolve Article for further assistance.

We hope this information helps.

@gbonness1

I just wrote about this very topic in this forum. The short answer is use myatt app to reset passcode for voicemail and rerun the setup routine on phone.

 Can you clarify what you mean by “setup routine”? What exactly needs to get done? Thanks!

@Iggz018

The "setup routine" will be visible from the phone app when going to the voicemail icon, assuming you've done the password reset with ATT.

I too had forgotten about this since it had been years between setups.  Once completed, you'll see the voicemails come down to phone.

You have to start by using myAT&T app or att.com website and navigate to where voicemail password can be reset.
