My voicemail box says it is full but it is not

I have deleted all but a few VM's and also cleared the deleted VM list.  I have restarted the phone several times.  The recording still comes on saying the VM is full and cannot accept any messages at this time.  How do I fix this?

Hello @lasvegasrenee

That's not fun when your voicemail box is causing you trouble, it would be our pleasure to help!

Feel free to access our Troubleshoot Voicemail Article and follow the step to help test your voicemail features on your device.

If you continue to still have trouble, you can also use the Device Support/ iPhone Xs, Xs MAX  , go to FIX IT > then go to Voicemail for additional assistance.

We hope this helps, and have a good weekend!

We have had this issue with a lot of phones in our company. There is a way to fix it, but it is not permanent. You will have to do this every once in a while until there is a software patch. Here is what is happening. When deleting voicemails while in Visual Voicemail, these voicemails are being saved instead of deleted in the actual voicemail box. In order to clear the voicemails, you have to manually go into the voicemail and delete the messages. You do this by going to the keypad, holding down "1" until it speed dials to the voicemail. Put in your password, and delete all of the saved messages by pressing "7".

Did not work. Sooooo very frustrating.  Been working on this problem since Wednesday, May1st. I have deleted all but a few VM's and also cleared the deleted VM list.  I have restarted the phone several times.  The recording still comes on saying the VM is full and cannot accept any messages at this time.  How do I fix this?

Call technical support.  Have them remove the VVM off your account, wait a couple of minutes, then add it back on, that may fix the issue. If then can’t remove it off thru the account thru normal means, then they’ll need to go into the switch and remove it there, then add it back after a couple of minutes.  If this doesn’t fix it, then have them remove it for 24 hours, then have them add it back afterwards.  If this doesn’t fix it, then they may need to file a trouble ticket.

My boss had the same problem. So he actually called his phone, put in his code, accessed his voicemails and cleared them out manually. That did the trick!! Hope this helps!

My husband is having the same issue! No VM in his saved -- but there's a lot in the deleted messages bucket--for some reason it keeps saying vm is full! I have an X, I have over 1k deleted vm in mine and I have no problems except when I actually am getting full for incoming new messages

Would it have anything to do with transcribing the voice mails--

Dwight,

I currently have a iPhone XS and have the same problem. I just spend 2.5hr on the phone with ATT Support with no resolution. We reset my voicemail twice and tried everything...whenever someone calls my cell phone it still says it' full and nobody can leave a voicemail. I use my cell phone for work. I am at a loss. How can I fix this?
