iPhone 8 and voicemail custom greeting not working.

Every time I try to create a custom voice mail greeting (on an iPhone 8), it either reverts to "default" greeting after I recorded and saved a custom greeting or I get an error 1035.  I've also tried setting up the greeting via calling my voice mail, and that didn't work either, nor did "resetting" network settings on the iPhone.

Hello @patrickmSB,

We can definitely provide you with some additional troubleshooting steps for this issue that you're experiencing while trying to save a custom voicemail greeting. Have you tried Disabling Wi-Fi on your iPhone 8, and recording your custom greeting over mobile data instead? Mobile Internet is a foundational feature required for Visual Voicemail to function. Once you've confirmed mobile data is working, please remember to turn Wi-Fi back on to help manage your data usage. If you're still having issues, we recommend using our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool to fix this. Simply select your device and the issue, then follow the steps to find a solution. Let us know if this helps.

I think I solved my own problem:

I called into my voicemail, and tried to change the greeting to no avail.  After a few attempts, I realized that I had had an "extended absence" greeting in effect.  Once I switched to a "custom" greeting, I was able to record and activate a custom greeting.
