iPhone 4 OS 4.1 Camera Roll Issue

I updated my iPhone 4 to OS 4.1 and now when I open the Camera Roll photo album only the photos taken after the 4.1 upgrade appear on the screen. The remainder of the screen is black. The photos are still there and they show up under slideshow view or you can open them by touching the black area but there is no way of choosing the pic you want without scrolling through the entire roll.

Has anyone else seen this problem? I've also seen it on a friends 3GS after she upgraded to 4.1. Anyone know how to fix it?

Thanks,

Johnny

You may want to check out this post from the Apple board:

A solution posted by another user (that worked for most people) is as follows:

> Download 'iPhone Explorer' (Google that one and it's free for Win/Mac).
>
> Plug iPhone in and navigate to the PHOTODATA folder.
>
> Locate these three files:
> 1. Photos.sqlite
> 2. PhotosAUX.sqlite
> 3. com.apple.photos.caches_metadata.plist
>
> Save them to your computer.
>
> Delete them from your iPhone.
>
> Restart your iPhone and let if boot fully.
>
> Open 'Photos' and wait for the iPhone to 'rebuild the library'.

I've seen it reported on other boards, but no resolution.

I would suggest you copy the pics off to your computer and sync them back.  The iPhone is not really intended to keep pictures in the camera roll, it is intended that the user copy them off and then sync back what they choose to keep.

It's most likely a bug in the backup file as a result of the upgrade.

I followed this and it worked with the exception of my videos.  I had 5 of them and all of them are gone and I cannot locate them.  😞
