WiFi switches to LTE

This is very frustrating. When on a call using my WiFi the person on the other end all of a sudden cannot hear me and the phone switches to LTE. Or I lose the call altogether.

I have a new 10X iPhone (Apple replaced my iPhone with a new one as Apple folks could not solve the issue as well as AT&T). My wife has the exact same phone and has no trouble whatsoever. I tried copying her settings but still have the same problem.

It seems that somewhere in the settings is causing the issue? At least I cannot figure it out.

Hello there @Scottsdale1!

We can help with that. Try resolving your experience by resetting your network settings. From your Home screen, simply navigate to Settings > General > Reset and reset network settings.

Also, go to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options and disable LTE if enabled.

Let us know how this worked for you.

Here is what just happened. I can’t. My phone just went crazy.

On a call I was on AT&T WiFi. When the other party answered the phone switched to AT&T and the WiFi insignia, he could not hear me.

Hi @Scottsdale1,

Have you tried the steps outlined in the previous response to reset your network settings?

Thanks for getting back to us @Scottsdale1. We understand how frustrating this must be for you.

Since you have successfully reset your network settings and the problem persists, we highly recommend signing in to the AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool to run tests and check device settings, & provisioning.

Once you run through the tool, test your Wi-Fi Calling, then post back to let us know the outcome.

Kenneth:

AT&T and Apple have done all of that.

What it boils down to is either a setting or app. However, our landline is with a voip company and I have the app on my iPhone (which I took off this morning). My thinking is perhaps since the landline uses the router and even if that phone is not being used and with the app on my iPhone it may be the culprit interfering and switching so the other party cannot hear me or drops my call?

That’s the latest.

Thanks for the update, @Scottsdale1. Who's your internet service provider - AT&T Internet?

We appreciate your response @Scottsdale1!

The best course of action is to reach out to your current internet provider to see if additional troubleshooting can be completed on your wireless router. From there you can test out the WiFi connection on your device to see if WiFi calling has improved.
