Why won't my iphone connect to my ATT net gear hotspot

My iPhones and iPads won't connect to my Hotspot. Wifi on devices say they are connected, but no wifi and hotspot doesn't show connection to devices. Been using for 2+ years with no problem until today.

Hello @Dude1969,

I am sorry to hear you are having connection issues with your Hotspot device. I’ll be glad to help get it working again!

Restarting the hotspot can help refresh the connections within the device. Once this has been completed, you can re-connect it with the phone and tablets to test them.

You will want to check the hotspot also has a connection to the network. You can check in along the top of the device if it has a screen available and view the signal strength. 3-5 bars will provide a great connection.

You can factory reset the device as well the clear out any potential software issues it may be having. You can do this through our Device Support Page. Once you select the device, head to Tutorials > Troubleshooting > Reset to begin. You will need to setup your connections once again after completeing this process.

Let me know if this information helps!

I tried all of this long before I got your response. None of it worked - on any of my Apple devices. All of my non-Apple devices had no problems connecting to the hotspot and worked fine. Must be a compatibility problem between Apple and AT&T. Research on the web indicates that many other folks are having the same issue after installing iOS 10.3.1.

Hey @Dude1969,

Thank you for your prompt response! I’m sorry these steps didn’t work for you, but I am glad we were able to narrow the issue down a little bit. I agree, the issue seems to be happening between the Apple devices and the hotspot. Since the other devices can connect, it’s safe to say the hotspot is functioning correctly.

I would like to get a little bit more information. What hotspot are you using? Also what Apple devices are you connecting with? I pulled out our iPhone 7 and connected it with our AT&T Unite Hotspot and it connected and had data, so the question is what’s different about the hardware since we are using the same iOS.

I look forward to your response!

The hotspot I am using is a Netgear Uniate Pro. Two second generation iPhone 6 plus on iOS 1.3.1, an iPad mini Model ME276LL/A (on iOS 10.3.1) and an iPad model MD785ll/A (on iOS 10.2.1. Also my iMac would not connect.

Hey @Dude1969,

Thank you for your reply, this helps a lot. One thing to check is if they are getting blocked out by the MAC Filter. You can check this by logging into your Unite Pro manager home page, once there please click on Wi-Fi and then MAC Filter. It should also have a few options on how it is filtering.

When you get these devices to connect you will want to add them to the white list as soon as possible, because if you don’t and the white list is saved they will be disconnected and not be able to reconnect.

Let’s add the iMac to the white list to see if this can grant us access again. To find you iMac’s MAC address from the Apple menu:

  • Select System Preferences > Network.
  • Select your Wireless Adapter that is connecting to the routing hardware.
  • Select Advanced.
  • Select Ethernet. The Ethernet ID is displayed and is the same as its MAC address.

I look forward to your response!
