Why won't ATT stand by their employee when a mistake is made?

I placed a phone order this morning with a representative. When I never received a confirmation email I called back and was told that the representative made a mistake and that the supervisor would not uphold the order. What a poor way to conduct a business. After 20+ years of 4 cell phone lines, Uverse, internet, and landline I will be taking my business elsewhere!!!
