Why is my order Pending port approval on IPhone XS pre order

I am a new customer porting over from Sprint and my order has been in Pending Port Approval for over a day now. It's my understanding that porting over a number takes only a few minutes, I am wondering if the delay is due to this being a pre order for the new I phone that will be shipped on the 21st. I placed the order on the 14th and don't want to be waiting until the release day for the port to be approved since this will most likely put me at the bottom of any fulfillment list. Has any one else had this happen and is there anything that can be done?  Thank you.

We can definitely provide you with some more information about Transferring your phone number to AT&T. Your current phone service will continue to work until you receive your new device from AT&T and follow the instructions to activate it. Once your AT&T account is activated, your old service provider will be notified of your new service with AT&T and will cancel your account. If equipment has been ordered, the process typically takes 3 to 5 business days to allow time for shipment. Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
