I have tried setting up my voicemail but it says it is unavailable and can not authorize access. Help please!

I am sorry to hear you are having problems setting up this essential feature. It will be my pleasure to help!


When you try this process, do you do it from the Phone app? If not, please make sure your cellular data is enabled and follow these steps:


  • From the Home screen, navigate to the Phone app > Voicemail
  • Tap Set up Now
  • Enter a password, then tap Done
  • Tap Custom to record a greeting or use the Default option
  • Finally, tap Save


If you continue receiving an error message, I recommend trying our AT&T Troubleshoot & Resolve tool for additional steps. Make sure to select the make and model of your phone > Voicemail to view complete instructions.


In the event the problem is not resolved, another reason you might have issues could be if your line doesn’t have this feature included. To make sure this is not the problem, I will send you a private message to collect account information. Please check your inbox!
