Visual Voicemail on iPhone 7 plus with gophone?

I've been in to my local AT&T store twice and been on multiple chats with Apple. My visual voicemail on my iphone 7 plus never alerts me and never shows up. I purchased the carrier free version directly from Apple, so I own it and have only had it a few weeks. I can hold 1 and dial to hear voicemail, but it never notifies me. I'm on the $45 plan that specifically lists visual voicemail as being included. I've reset network configuration, rebooted, restored to factory and used iCloud to restore, restored to factory and chose to set it up as a new phone and none of these solved the issue. The first restore and something a guy did in store pulled over voicemail one time each and I thought both times it was working, but at some point it always quits again. This last time I called my voicemail to check it and had 4 voice mails I had never been notified about and that have still not shown up in visual voicemail. I also noticed that on the few voicemails it did pull over, there's no text translation. In store I was told my account had everything it needed for visual voicemail.

 

Has anyone else had this issue? I really need to at least receive notifications!

Good Morning! I can definitely understand your concern regarding receiving these notifications from voicemail. I personally utilize my voicemail for daily activities and can relate to your concern of getting instant notifications!

@mpharvey Text translation is not the "visual" part of "visual voicemail", not having to navigate the menus (press "1" for next) is the "visual" part.

 

Text translation on the iPhone is still in Beta. I don't know if it's on all iPhones, I've seen others mention they don't have it.

@ATTCaresThanks for reaching out. I actually ended up speaking with multiple representatives over the course of about 3 hours and finally got it resolved Friday night. They all tried different things, but I believe the final solution was some changes on your side and then I had to do another restore of my phone to force it to see those changes.

 

@Gary LThanks for letting me know! Hopefully it's out of beta soon...its disappointing to not have it yet! But just to clarify for anyone who may stumble upon this later...that was not the real issue here. Voicemail wasn't working at all until AT&T made some changes on their end.

I am having the same exact problem with the same setup. I've tried talking to different reps and swapping sims but still no voicemail notifications or visual voicemail.

The only thing I was told was that they made changes to my account. My phone wasn't seeing those changes even after a Resetting network configuration, so I had to do one last restore on my phone once the representative I spoke with was 100% sure she had changed everything that needed to be. I wish I had more to tell you 😞

I think after a couple hours of them messing with my account, many failed voicemails and a restore, they finally got it working consistently! I never thought I'd be so excited! lol
