I have been getting spam with a lot of symbols and numbers from 1-410-100-004. How do I block this?

I have started to receive spam text messages that are apparently emailed to my phone number.

How can I prevent emailed text messages?

What is known about these unsolicited msgs?

I found a webpage that said to sign up at mymessages.wireless.att.com

I tried and it sent me a 5 digit completion code as a text msg from {Personal content removed for safety}

I was thus skeptical since it had the (410) area code, but I assume that is just what AT&T uses.

I would go ahead and try registering at at&t's messaging center ( http://mymessages.wireless.att.com/ ).  I haven't accessed it in a long time, but the last time I did it still provided a way to block SMS that are being sent from e-mail addresses, so that may do the trick for you.

After two attempts I was able to create an account and sign in.  Thanks

I added one of the spam msgs to the blocked list as it has an email address

The other spam msg did not have an email address - it said "FRM AT&T Account Services, SUB Urgent, MSG zip code needed"

 

The (410) 000 and (410) 080 area code and exchange pairs are apparently under control of AT&T.

My two spam msgs came in with siffixes of 001 and 002 on the 000 exchange.

My confirmation code for setting up the account came is as suffix 003 although on the 080 exchange.

I then sent an email from my hotmail account to my phone via  <phonenumber>@txt.att.net.

It came in as suffix 004 on the 000 exchange.

My successful attempt at registering - the confirmation code came in as suffix 005 on the 080 exchange.

 

So looks like 000 exchange used for email sourced msgs.

080 exchange used for AT&T sourced msgs

And each msg regardless of source is assigned the next sequential suffix number.

Strange that the suffix is not 4 digits to complete [look like] a regular 10 digit phone number

If you get a spam text message, forward the message to AT&T so we can help shut the spammers down! 

 

Forward your spam text messages to 7726 and you'll receive confirmation that your forward was received almost instantly. 

 

In most cases, you'll be asked to reply with the message with the spammer's phone number, so don't delete the spam text right away. 

 

Here's how to foward text messages:

 

iPhone: Press the message (careful not to activate a link), then Edit, then tap the little circle next to the message, then forward to 7726.
Android: Press the message (careful not to activate a link), then choose Forward in the menu and forward to 7726.
Blackberry: Open the message, then using the Menu key, select Forward in the menu and forward to 7726.
Windows: Press the message (careful not to activate a link), then choose Forward in the menu and forward to 7726.

(In case anyone runs across this thread again several years after the fact, like I did...)

 

This information still applies, as of 05/27/14.  Just got a spam msg. (email to text) from the Netherlands and couldn't report to 7726 due to the lack of a valid sender phone number.  The 611 operator (while exceedingly pleasant) was apparently unaware of your provided URL and thus unable to help me resolve this problem, but I was able to find this thread via a forum search, register, verify and add the offending domain to the blocked list.

 

The funny thing is, I've been all over the ATT Wireless site since 2003 and this is the first time I was ever aware of the "mymessages.wireless... " area.  You learn something new every day!

I just received a text message from an odd number - 1 (410) 100-002 that claims to be from AT&T stating that my account was issued a $85 credit for overage charges. Then it says to visit myatt85.com to redeem it.  I didn't go there just in case.  Does anyone have any info on this?

Here are some suggestions to block these messages from coming through. Take a look at click here

 

You may also be able to create a contact for that number on your phone and setup a block for that number depending on the type of phone you have.
