@Jvland83Sort of, apparently it's not as easy as Android or WinPhone, but there are ways to check:

Not by looking, no. The only way to tell is to put a compatible SIM from a different provider (other than Cricket). If it works, it is unlocked.

Another way is to connect to iTunes and do a backup/restore. If unlocked, you should see that message displayed in iTunes after the restore.
