Unlock device says phone isn’t paid off

Ok so I just received an iPhone 6s from my uncle. He paid the phone off and upgraded. I do not have att. After entering imei number it says device is not paid off—but it is. Please help!

Let's look at your unlock request. Please read things to know about unlocking a device with AT&T. If it's within 14 days of your uncle's upgrade, it might not let the unlock request go through until he's past the buyer's remorse period. If it's past that time period, go ahead and place another unlock request. If you still receive the device is not paid off message again, you may need to reach out to your uncle and have him check with us so the iPhone can be unlocked.
