Unfortunately, you can’t unless the original owner pays it off.  AT&T won’t give out account information, so no one else would be able to pay it off either.

The IMEI not being in the database may simply mean that the phone had never been used on AT&T previously, so it was never added to their database, or it’s an old phone and AT&T had cleaned the number out of their database.  If it had been reported lost or stolen, it would have said so when you tried to unlock it.

Hello @moisesbarros7,

Allow us to lend a helping hand. You are required to have either 60 days of postpaidor 6 months of prepaid service before your device is eligible to be unlocked. Check out this support article on Unlocking your AT&T device for more information. Thanks for reaching out to us.

Hi, I put a request to unlock my device more than 24 hours ago and I did not receive a confirmation email.

Hello, I'm from Panama and a friend recently bought an used IphoneXR from someone, everything seemed fine but when we tried to put a SIM card from one of our local operators the phone didn't want to accept it, after that we found out that the phone was linked to the AT&T network and it would take any other SIM card. We don't have AT&T in Panamá, or at least I think we don't have that service yet, so the phone can't make or receive calls. Is there any way the phone can be unlocked so it can take our local networks? we can't contact the seller

Greetings @altonsmith92!

Allow us to assist. If you have completed your contract (including paying any early termination fees) or paid off your installment agreement then please wait at least 24 hours before submitting your unlock request.

Otherwise, make sure your device had active service on the AT&T network for at least 60 days and that it meets our other eligibility requirements.

We hope this info helps.

I recently bought an iPhone X 245g for my mom from a seller on offerup, traded mom’s old iPhone 5 plus $400 on top. I threw mom’s att sim chip in and tested call and everything worked and everyone was happy. The next day mom’s phone won’t dial out or receive calls, we took the iPhone to our att dealer and was told the phone was blacklisted. I contacted the seller but no response, filed a report with offerup but no help from them but was told since the phone purchase was under $1000 I can not file a police report. I’m in a bad spot, mom’s out a phone and a ton of money. She is beyond Pi**ed off with me 😣

Yes I know it was dumb and a huge mistake buying a used phone so please anyone with some real ideas on getting this phone activated I would greatly appreciate it!
