The IMEI you entered does not appear to be an AT&T wireless phone or tablet.

I have an iPhone that is locked to at&t network, it can be activated with only at&t sim card and it does not accept any other. It is a replacement phone, and I am not able to unlock it since I can not even post an unlock request because when I insert the imei, it shows that it does not belong to at&t, please help, IMEI:[edited for privacy-please do not post personal or unique information such as but not limited to full names, employee ID numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, etc.]

Hello Community,

We wanted to post a response to this older question in case other users run into this issue.

In order for your unlock request to be successful, your device must meet various criteria. These include being paid in full, not being reported lost, stolen or involved with fraud, no past-due balance, and meeting the service requirement of 60 days of active postpaid or 6 months of active prepaid service.

If your device meets all of these qualifications and you can confirm that the device was purchased from AT&T and is locked to our network, please let us know and we'll be able to assist.

Please post a new questions as this is an old thread.

@mikefsp

If you purchased phones sold as Gophone/prepaid, they are not in the system until used on ATT.  These are subsidized phones, sold under retail cost.  ATT has the right to lock subsidy phones .  They will not be unlocked until a minimum service period is completed.  In the past the IMEI was on the system and unlocking was possible.  This loop hole is closed.

I guess I didn’t explain well enough.

Phones sold on prepaid are sold at a discounted price, less than retail.  Because of this ATT is allowed to require a minimum amount of service before they will be unlocked.  Almost every US carrier locks phones that are sold at a low cost, or given free.

If you have not used the phone for the required 6 consecutive paid months, they will not be unlocked.

There is no way around it.  You can sell the phone to someone using ATT to recoupe your expense.

 Hi @perentinko!

Getting your phone unlocked can be important, especially if you travel a lot or want to sell it.  I will be more than happy to help!

We have been experiencing issues with the device unlock portal which may be the reason you have been getting the error.  Fantastic news though, it has been fixed!

I would suggest submitting another request through our Device Unlock Request portal once more. Please clear your browser’s cache and cookies, close all the windows, and then re-submit your request.  You can also try a different browser.  We have found Firefox to work best with the unlock request portal!

Once it’s been completed, you can check the status of the request at our Device Unlock Status portal.  All you will need is your request number and IMEI number.  The device unlock process can take between 2 – 5 business days.

Have a fantastic day!

Are you serious? What error? The phone is missig from your databse! and it is just linked to the device that was replaced at apple, it is an iPhone 6 A1586 which does not even belong to at&t but it is still locked to it. Please treat my question with more seriosity, do not tell me that it is an error that was solved, it is an error that you do not want to cooperate with Apple to obtain new IMEIs from replaced devices.

I'm having literally the EXACT SAME issue with my Galaxy S6 Active. It is DEFINITELY an AT&T phone, yet when I enter the IEMI into the unlock form it says that is not. I've entered it no less than 5 times with the same exact result each time. Also I used 2 different desktops.

Hello @Clockw0rk,

I’m sorry to read you’re having issues with the device unlock portal.  I’m curious to help with this.  I’ve worked with many device unlocks before so I’m very familiar with this situation.

I’d like to get some details about what’s going on, so I’d like you to send me a private message to @ATTMobilityCare with your full name, and account number, and any details about the device you want unlocked.  Please keep an eye on your Forum’s Inbox.  I look forward to working with you!

Best regards!

Also just had the same issue to unlock a iPad Pro. Guess the issue has not been "fixed" yet. Had to call att for them to unlock it.

I am still getting the error:

The IMEI you entered does not appear to be an AT&T wireless phone or tablet. Please re-enter the correct 15-digit IMEI number for your AT&T wireless phone or tablet. You can obtain the IMEI number from the wireless phone by dialing *#06#.

I have tried different browsers, but had no luck.
